Be prepared for stressful situations
L- theanine, an amino acid found naturally in green tea and available in supplement form, helps reduce stress before and during a challenging situation, according to research in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, and Behavior. In the study, pharmacy students in Japan were given a patented form of L- theanine ( Suntheanine) or a placebo for 10 days before starting their first tour of practice in a hospital or drug- store pharmacy, and for the following 10 days. According to the students’ reports and saliva tests that objectively measured physical markers of stress, those taking Suntheanine experienced less anxiety during the entire period. The dose was 200 mg twice daily, after breakfast and lunch.
