VA, Medrano’s, sponsoring Veterans’ Father’s Day bash

Medrano's Oil Change has teamed up with the West Texas VA Center in Big Spring to ensure local veteran's won't be celebrating Father's Day alone. The annual Father's Day luncheon is scheduled for Sunday, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the VA.

“This is just a little something that we can do to say thank you to our veterans,” Mario Medrano, one of the event organizers, said.

The luncheon is focused on the veterans who are currently living in the Community Living Center and the Domiciliary, but all local veterans are welcome to attend.

“Several of these veterans don't have family that is able to come visit and we want to make sure they are not spending Father's Day alone,” Medrano said. “We encourage the community to come out, for veterans and their families to come out. This is a great way to just sit and talk with our veterans who have given so much for us.”

This year, in addition to the lunch provided by Medrano's, the Loco Motives will be providing music from Noon until 2 p.m.

The community is invited to come out and join the luncheon, speak with the veterans and help them celebrate Father's Day.
