George Ray Colvin

George Ray Colvin, age 83, of Big Spring, formally of Turkey, Texas, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020, after a short illness. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at Dreamland Cemetery in Turkey. Visitation will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, at Moore-rose Funeral Home in Quitaque. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-rose Funeral Home. George was born in Turkey, Texas on July 31, 1936. He retired from Big Spring State Hospital as business manager, and moved back to Turkey, Texas. He was married to Veta L. Colvin who preceded him in death on April 23, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Veta L. Colvin;

his mom, Emily Ella Pauline Geissler; his dad, George Ray Colvin; a sister, Etwoil Hamilton; and a daughter, Tasha Colvin.

George is survived by his son, James Colvin of Big Spring; his daughters, Shawna Smith and husband, David of Big Spring, Suzie Ham and her husband, Tony of Montevallo, Alabama, and Linda Meyer and her husband, Steve of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Rae Logan of Kerrville, Texas, and Judy Morrison and her husband, Murry Wayne of Lubbock, Texas; twelve grandchildren, Travis Colvin, Kenna Colvin, Katelin Colvin, Brody Smith, Heather Diffee, Rusty Ham, Molliemae Ham, Suzanna Wells, Destiny Whitley, Ryan Whitley, Jennifer Anderson and John Thomas Barr; and 16 great-grandchildren.
