Big Spring Junior High School band students competed in All-region band performances last weekend.
Auditions were held in December to see who would earn a spot in the Region VI Bands. Featured students made the band, from the junior high section.
The high school students gave their concert on Jan. 18. There were 11 students who qualified for the area level of auditions, There were also two who made it to the All-state level.
The students who advanced to State will represent Big Spring ISD at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention on Feb. 15 in San Antonio. The Junior High School students presented their concert on Jan. 25 at Lakeview HS in San Angelo.
These students showed off their talent well and represented Steer Nation and Big Spring well. Leading these students are: Band Directors - Mr. John Landin, Mr. Joshua Carroll, Mr. Hudson Dougherty, and Mr. Gabe Martinez.
“We are very grateful for all of our hard working students in our band program. Along with them, we want to thank all of our parents, administrators, and friends of the Big Spring Steer band! The Steer Band is one of Big Spring ISD’S finest attributes,” Band Director Gabe Martinez, said. “Go band!”
