Forsan dominates home tennis meet
FORSAN — It was an impressive showing for the Forsan tennis team at their home courts on Friday. The Buffaloes won three out of five events and displayed team-wide strength in their second varsity meet of the season. “It's a good day to be a Buffalo,” Forsan assistant coach Lloyd Vedder said. Forsan picked up their wins by sweeping all three doubles events on the day. They also fell just short in the boys and girls singles bracket as Hunter Cevallos and Angel Mccafferty advanced all the way to the finals.
The pairing of Haley Patterson and Madison Smith went home with the girls doubles crown. They were able to defeat their teammate duo of Mallory Ezell and Ally Aguilar in the finals. This meant that the Buffaloes finished in the top two spots of the girls doubles bracket.
It was a similar story for the boys doubles competition on Friday. The grouping of Ty Moorman and Cody Huitt defeated Hunter Carter and Jonathon Gabehart in the finals. In fact, all four semifinal pairings were from Forsan. The Buffaloes swept the entire boys doubles bracket as the duo of Sawyer Stallings and Thomas Gabehart won the third-place match.
Finally, the mixed doubles crown was won by Nick Bacigalupo and Ella Hoff. They defeated the duo of Brianna Elliott and JB Wright for a first-place finish.
Forsan started off their tennis season with a bang and will look to keep building on this momentum. They seem to have a deep roster of talented players that will be able to help this squad go far.
It was a good day to be a Buffalo.
