Lady Steers Volleyball announces 2020 schedule changes

- By SHAWN MORAN Herald Sports Writer

After releasing their 2020 schedule last week, the Big Spring Lady Steers had a few changes to announce to their schedule this fall.

All of the changes involve district match-ups so there will be no major shake-ups with the schedule. There will, however, be a switch of venues for a handful of games that could switch the momentum of the Lady Steers season depending on where they are as a team once the district schedule rolls around.

On Sep. 26, the Lady Steers were originally scheduled to host the Estacado Lady Matadors inside the Steer Gym. Now, that contests' venue has been changed and the match will take place at Estacado High School in North Lubbock.

That also means that the second meeting between these district rivals will be switched from its original location - Estacado High School - to Big Spring High School on Oct. 13. The Lady Matadors won their one meeting against Big Spring last year at home in a very close battle.

The next change to the schedule is the switching of home team for the Lake View match-up on Sep. 29 and Oct. 17. Big Spring will now host the Maidens in September and will take the hour drive southeast to Lake View High School in October.

The last of the changes will be most important to the older players on the team. The two games against Sweetwater have changed venue also and the Lady Steers will play at the Lady Mustangs home on Oct. 10 and will host them for Senior Night in the last regular season game on Oct. 27.

Senior Night was originally scheduled to be played against Levelland but these schedule adjustments have changed those plans for the 2020 season.
