Golf

Dear Editor

I enjoyed the recent article about Alex Leuschner, a Big Spring golfer, now attending Big Spring High School. He is really playing some great golf. Alex is an exceptional young golfer and good enough, if he continues like new on the course, to go on after graduation and/or college to pursue golf as a professional. He is a super nice individual off the course as well. I enjoy keeping up with his accomplishments.

These are some other Big Spring golfers who lived in Big Spring and started playing golf here and become golf professionals.

They are out there touring golf pros and teaching golf pros (all PGA):

• John Basden: Golf pro at Tucson Arizona; Ventura Country Club

• Eric Lusk, previously golf pro at Austin, Texas

• Jake Mccullough, golf pro now at Odessa CC, Odessa, Texas

• Jerry Simmons, previous golf pro at BSCC and Dallas area

• Joe Sharpnack, previous golf pro at Denver, Colorado, Applewood CC

Rail

Dear Editor

Per Texas Rail Advocates “In the last decade over $19 billion in federal grants & programs were distributed to other states for freight & passenger rail projects & improvements. Texas got only .0001% of that $19 billion.”

Two Big Spring citizens – realizing Big Spring would not have any representative there for that purpose – took it upon their personal expense to attend the Dallas seminar.

Two grants were awarded to Big Spring. Big Spring has had a Ports to Plains representative for many years ---- result over $100 billion was attracted & spent in the Big Spring area. Participation seems to pay.

Enroll today in Big Spring City Boards.

You might be there when opportunity knocks.
