Club News Keep Big Spring Beautiful

-

The October 2020 Keep Big Spring Beautiful meeting was called to order by President Peggy Skiles. Peggy also led the group in the invocation.

Liz Hafley made a motion to accept the June 2020 minutes. It was seconded by Gloria Mcdonald and all approved.

Jim Depauw then gave the treasurer's report.

Our “Love Our Lake” Project was a great success. We had 26 participants. We collected 65 bags with a weight of about 975 pounds. We received a big shout out from Keep America Beautiful for our efforts. Thanks to everyone for taking part in cleaning up our town.

Our Fall Sweep will be October 27, 2020. We will begin at 6:00. We are going to concentrate on the downtown area.

Because our tree planting this year was so successful we will be planting more trees. We plan to plant more at Howard College and the golf course. Peggy Skiles made the motion to adjourn.

Our next meeting will be November 2, 2020. We meet at Howard College at noon.

Visitors are always welcome.

Masonic Lodge

It's a Kid-friendly Candy Maze this Halloween and all costumed children are invited. That is, as long as they are accompanied by an adult and are under the age of 12.

The entire downtown area around South Main will be a cornucopia of costumed fun, candy, and amazing things all afternoon and into the evening.

The Masonic Lodge will be hosting a Candy Maze in partnership with other area businesses and organizations.

Starting around 4 PM on Halloween, costumed children will be invited to ascent the 120-year-old creaky staircase beside the Blue-eyed Buffalo, go through the creaky door at the top of the stairs, and get candy at many different stations as they and their adult guides meander from booth to kiosk. Then they will head down the creepy 70-year-old staircase only to find themselves on 3rd street and right back in the middle of the action.

It's like Trunk-or-treating, only better!

If you or your organization would like to stake-out a booth, we will be glad to provide the space and the candy. All that you need to do is dress up, consider decorating your area, pass out candy for as long as you want, and then enjoy the streetmosphere on South Main.

Enjoy the Boo in Big Spring this Halloween.
