Highlighting Howard Co. Business
Selah Tubing Testing - Serving Howard County and surrounding areas
Experience is a foundation used to build dreams upon, just ask local Big Spring resident Jody Bennett, owner of Selah Tubing Testers.
After working 20 years in the oilfield, testing pipe, Bennett felt the desire to step out and start his own business. In January 2018, Bennett officially launched his new business venture.
“I have been testing pipe in the oilfield for approximately 19-20 years and decided it was time to go on my own,” Bennett said. “I bring experience from all those years in the industry; I am hands on and run the truck myself.”
Even though Bennett stepped into a new business venture, on his own, he continues in the oil field industry. He provides services to area oil companies and continues to grow his business.
“In addition to wanting my business to be sustainable and profit producing, we place a heavy focus on the ability to give back to our community,” he said. “Sowing back into those who have helped shape who I am is important. If I want to be successful then it’s important to support where I live and work.”
While the pandemic has thrown a twist into the launch of the business, through local support of customers, community support and God’s guidance, Bennett has been able to not only continue his business, but grow.
“I am truly blessed. I appreciate all my customers who have supported me along the way,” he said. “This business couldn’t continue without the customers and the trust they have in my ability to get the job done.”
While this is a venture that took faith and years of experience, it is an experience that Bennett encourages others to step into if they are on the fence of starting their own business. Despite the struggles that will come with opening a new company – even when a pandemic is not sweeping across the nation – it is a venture that is worth it.
“I encourage those who are considering opening a business to look at their options, do their research and know that going in there will be struggles, but if it’s truly a dream and something you feel you are being led to do, then go for it,” he said. “Never give up no matter the circumstances. Keep pushing forward.”
