The Coahoma Bulldogs (6-1, 2-1) dominated on both sides of the ball and crushed the Reagan County Owls (3-5, 0-3) on Friday night. The final score was 60-0 in a game that was controlled by the Bulldogs from the opening kickoff and was never close.

Coahoma has now won two straight district games as the head into the final stretch of their regular season against Lubbock Roosevelt and Abernathy over the next two weeks.

“I think we played excellent,” Head Football Coach Chris Joslin said. “I thought this had been one of our best weeks of practice and they came out from the get-go ready to play.”

Brysen Kerby got things started for the Coahoma offense when he ran it in for one of his four firsthalf rushing touchdowns. The Bulldogs then were also able to connect on a 33-yard touchdown pass from Kolt Redden to wide receiver Sean Striegler that put them ahead 14-0 in the first quarter.

Kerby then ran one in for his second score of the night to put the Bulldogs up 21-0 early in the second quarter. Only a few minutes later, Redden completed a 47-yard touchdown pass to Billy Bailey that had Coahoma rolling and up 27-0.

The Bulldogs were not done yet. After just 19 seconds of game time, the Bulldogs found the end zone once again. This time, it was a 40-yard touchdown run by Kerby that put the Bulldogs ahead 340. With just over 20 seconds remaining in the first half, Redden completed a 24-yard touchdown pass to Tony Hagins and Coahoma went into the break holding a 48-0 lead.

“A ton of people touched the ball tonight and a bunch of people scored. Brysen got off to a good start and all of our receivers got in the mix. We threw the ball very well,” Joslin said

Coahoma kept up their dominating performance in the second half. They scored on a 33-yard pass from Noah Dials to Tristan Guerrero that put the Bulldogs up 54-0 late in the third quarter. Then, Guerrero ran it in for a touchdown in the fourth quarter and the game’s final points had been scored on a night where the red and white could not be stopped.

The Bulldogs have now shutout three separate opponents so far this season and the defense appears to be playing their best ball heading into their two most important contests of the season.

“I think we got our swagger back on defense last week and that carried into tonight. Everybody played really well and tackled really well,” Joslin said.

Coahoma will surely celebrate this win and get back to work early next week preparing for the Lubbock Roosevelt Eagles (7-1, 2-1) - who will be coming off of a 28-12 loss to Abernathy on Friday night.
