Permian Basin Underground Water Conservation District 2021 Art Calendar Winners
The Permian Basin Underground Water Conservation District recently held their 2020 art calendar contest for 4th & 5th graders in their District. The schools were sent a powerpoint presentation by the district’s education coordinator teaching the students of the importance of water conservation and giving them tips on how they could pitch in to help save water. The students were then asked to take the information and create a detailed picture illustrating what they believed to be an important water conservation message for the public. Participating schools in the District include Forsan, Grady, Sands, and Stanton.
This year’s grand prize winner was 5th grader Lisa Enns of Grady Elementary, who submitted a drawing titled “Be A Water Hero”. Lisa’s artwork is featured on the cover as well as inside the PBUWCD 2021 calendar and she received a $50 cash prize and certificate for her accomplishment.
Eleven other winners received a $25 cash prize along with a certificate, and their artwork is published on a monthly page inside of the calendar. They include: Forsan Elementary students Barrett Grigg, Brynlee Mims, Chassidy Phillips, Emily Hallford, Finley Strickland, and Garrett Roach; Sands Elementary students Bella Baker and Mia Connell; and Stanton Elementary students Aaliyah Williams, Abraham Andrade, and Lauren Alvizo.
The PBUWCD would like to thank all of the students who participated in this year’s contest. The 2021 calendars are available to the public free of charge at our office, 708 W. Saint Peter St in Stanton. The winning pictures are also posted on our Facebook page.
