Big Spring Herald Weekend

Kay Lynn (Clawson) Walters

-

Lynn was born Nov. 27, 1942, in Big Spring, Texas to Lesley and Laverne (Holden) Clawson. She grew up in Big Spring with her younger brother, Bo, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She loved and excelled in academics, music, student government and more, graduating as Salutatorian of the 1961 Class at Big Spring High School. She furthered her education at The University of Texas at Austin, The University of Texas at Arlington and SMU, finishing with a Master’s in Business. Her career focused on banking software and data processing and she had a client list took her around the world.

Lynn settled in Arlington, Texas, where she almost single-handedly raised two boys, David and Steve, as a single mother. She was relentless in managing her family and work obligations and no one worked harder. While she was proud of her boys and career, nothing could compare to the love and affection for her granddaughters, Madeline and Katherine. Upon retirement, she attended as many of her girls’ sports’ games, dance rehearsals and academic events. She took them on memorable vacations that will always be cherished. Additionally, she enjoyed bible study and lunches with friends from church.

Lynn died Wednesday, March 10, 2021 after a fiveyear battle with Alzheimer’s. Her family would like to thank all the caregivers at The Westmore Senior Living and Encompass Health Hospice for their continual care. She is survived by her sons, David Walters, and wife, Missy, and Steve Walters, granddaughters, Madeline and Katherine Walters, step-grandchildren Clark and Tatum Nowlin, and brother, Bo Clawson and wife, Nancy. A private, graveside service near her parents will be March 13, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring.
