County Commissioners to convene Monday to discuss county roads
Howard County Commissioners will consider several items when they meet Monday, including tax deeds and the Howard County Appraisal District’s budget, a contribution of funds to the Howard County Volunteer Fire Department, and several items pertaining to county roads.
Commissioners will meet at 1 p.m. in County Judge Kathryn Wiseman’s conference room on the second floor for a budget workshop; the Commissioners’ regular session will start at 3:30 p.m. in the third-floor courtroom of the Howard County Courthouse, 300 S. Main St.
The meeting will kick off with consideration of tax deeds on parcels R000004254, R000008772, R000008725 and R000010905, followed by discussion and possible action on the county’s contribution to the Tax Appraisal Budget.
The commissioners will consider taking action on “contributing funds to the VFD for sale of equipment,” followed by an executive session, during which the commissioners will discuss pipeline leases. If the county leaders decide to take any action on items discussed during the closed session, they will do so when they return to open session.
County Road Engineer Brian Klinksiek will present several items during the meeting, including seeking approval of contracts on three road projects, designated RFB 2020014, 2020015 and 2020016.
Klinksiek will once again raise the issue of naming a road in Precinct 2 “Foltz Lane,” an item he raised at the commissioner’s previous meeting.
The engineer will also seek approval of a change in county paperwork, namely approval of a multi-use permit, before presenting his Roadway Maintenance Update.
In other business, County Treasurer Sharon Adams will present personnel considerations, her Monthly Payroll Report, 2022 Texas County and District Retirement System (TCDRS) retirement rates and education hours for an April conference. County Auditor Jackie Olson will present invoices, purchase requests, and her Monthly Financial Report; and County Clerk Brent Zitterkopf will present his Monthly Report.
