City of Stanton to address routine agenda

The City of Stanton will hold a regular meeting on July 12 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The meeting will begin with a public hearing for annexation.

The area in consideration involves Oncor - 1400 W. Hwy 80, begin a 2.633-acre tract of land in Section 15, block 36, Township 1 South and Section 22, block 36, Township 1 South. As part of the public hearing there will be time allotted for public comments. Those speaking are limited to five minutes each. Once the public hearing concludes, the regular city council meeting will begin.

The Council meeting will begin with public comment, which will once again be limited to five minutes per person.

Consideration and action could be taken regarding June 14, 2021 minutes.

The council will also look to adopt Municipal Service Plan Agreement between City of Stanton and Oncor.

The Council will then move to consider and possibly take action on adopting an ordinance annexing the following described territory to the City of Stanton: Oncor – 1400 West Hwy 80, begin a 2.633-acre tract of land in Section 15, block 36, Township 1 South and Section 22, block 36, Township 1 South.

Consideration and possible action could be taken on 2nd Quarter financials report which will be presented by Finance Director, Laura Samanukorn.

Reports will be heard from the City Administrator and the Chief of Police before the council moves to take action on the June 2021 bills.

Reappointment of Missy Villa will be considered and possibly approved to the position on the Stanton Housing Authority Board.

The TML Conference in Houston will be taking place Oct. 6-8. There will be consideration and possible approval to send City Manager, Council members and their spouses to the conference.

There will also be consideration and action possibly taken on granting Martin County Museum Board $17,130 form the Hotel/motel Tax Fund for the Historical Connell House Restoration.
