Henry Leon West
Henry Leon West, 90, passed away on Friday; July 2, 2021, in Granbury. He was born on October 16, 1930, in Dawson County, Texas, to Leon and Helen West.
He proudly served in the United States armed forces, where he discovered his mechanical abilities which would serve him the rest of his life.
He married his wife, Ella Vonne Fortune, in 1951, celebrating 70 years of a wonderful marriage Feb. 17, 2021.
He worked as a Machinist for Cosden Refinery in Big Spring, Texas. After 35 years of service, he retired in 1987. Henry spent the next 34 years of retirement traveling the country with Ella Vonne in their motor home, repairing used boats, and fishing with family and friends.
Henry was a faithful member of Granbury Church of Christ where he served in the greeting ministry and taught Bible classes alongside Ella Vonne. The kids could see him a mile away; he was always known as the candy man.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Reed.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ella Vonne West; two children: Ron West, Teresa Green and husband, Mike; two grandchildren: Ashley Fiant and husband, Aaron, Brendan Green and wife, Kaitlyn; three great-grandchildren: Asher Green, Penelope Fiant, and Brooks Green; and siblings: sister Janice Fowler, and sister Jonell Hutto and husband, Bill.

Memorial services were held Tuesday July 6, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Granbury Church of Christ, Granbury, Texas.
