Robert Louis Stapp, age 80, of Big Spring passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021.

A visitation will be Monday, August 2, 2021, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Mt. Olive Memorial Park Chapel.

He was born June 12, 1941, in Russell County, Ky., to parents Eldon Stapp and Nellie Allen (Hare) Stapp. Robert married Rosie Peña Lucero on December 20, 1977.

Roberts’s passions were motorcycle­s, fishing and being a Police Officer. He started his journey in 1975 as a Police Officer in New Mexico then moved to Big Spring, Texas to take up Law Enforcemen­t in 1980. He worked for the Big Spring Police Department and Howard County Sheriff’s Office up until retirement. Robert truly cared about his community and has helped so many people throughout his career. Above all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Nellie Stapp; and his brother, William “Bill” Stapp.

He is survived by his wife Rosie Stapp; his sons: Robert Stapp and wife Melinda, Roger Stapp and wife Dana, William Stapp and wife Heather; grandchild­ren: Samantha Lewis and husband Randy, Chasdí Phelan, Jaycee Newton, Tyler Stapp and wife Eve, Brianna and husband Cody Frank, Hannah and husband Kevin O’connel, Samuel Stapp, Alyssa Stapp, Chance Edward, Harley Lee, and Justice Stapp; and nine great-grandchild­ren.
