Bancroft named BSACF director
The Big Spring Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce it has named a new Executive Director. George Bancroft, most recently employed as an Assistant Superintendent with the Big Spring ISD, began serving the BSACF on August the 16th. Bancroft graduated from Big Spring High School in 1983 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from North Texas State University. In addition to a Bachelor’s Degree, he holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas Permian Basin.
22 years of Bancroft’s professional career thus far have been invested in education, having started that career as an English teacher in San Antonio. After ten years as a classroom teacher in San Antonio and locally, he served the Big Spring ISD as an Assistant Principal, Principal, Community Relations Coordinator, and Assistant Superintendent. Prior to entering the field of education, George worked in the financial services industry as an investment representative with Edward Jones and Primerica.
Bancroft currently serves as the Board Chairman of the Salvation Army and in September will complete a sixyear stint on the board of trustees for the Dora Roberts Rehabilitation Center. In the past, he has served as a board member for the Untied Way, CASA of West Texas, and the HOPE Foundation. He is a current member and past president of the Greater Big Spring Rotary Club.
Bancroft stated, “My predecessor in this position, Greg Henry, was a fine man and a friend of mine. It’s important to me to continue the good work Greg was doing. I’m looking forward to fostering the projects he was diligently attending to, and I’m equally excited about finding new opportunities for the Foundation to serve Big Spring and the Big Spring area. It seems to me the possibilities are limitless. A lot of people have donated quality time, money, and effort to bring the Foundation to its current very healthy state. I feel incredibly blessed to have been chosen to work with the board as its Executive Director as we look for ways to improve our community.”
