Howard County Commission­ers to consider burn ban during Monday’s regular afternoon meeting

The Howard County Commission­ers will convene for a regular meeting Monday, Sept. 13 inside the 3rd Floor Courtroom at the Howard County Courthouse, at 3:30 p.m.

Once the meeting has been called to order there will be time allowed for citizen input. This is an opportunit­y to members of the community to address the Commission­ers Court with any concerns, thoughts or ideas. Once citizen's input has concluded, the Commission­ers will move into the action items on the agenda and receive reports.

Howard County Judge Kathryn Wiseman will lead discussion on a petition to dissolve water board. After discussion has wrapped up the commission­ers will possibly move to a vote.

The topic of a burn ban will be presented once again by Howard County Volunteer Fire Chief Mitchell Hooper. Howard County has not received rain in the past couple of weeks, but has experience­d high temperatur­es causing vegetation to become dry. Country Treasurer Sharon Adams will discuss personnel considerat­ions with commission­ers. County Auditor Jackie Olson will ask for approval on invoices, purchase requests and budget amendments. Discussion will take place regarding authorizat­ion for the county of Howard to issue requests for proposals for administra­tive services and requests for qualificat­ions (RFQS) for profession­al services for the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. County Clerk Brent Zitterkopf will deliver the monthly report for August.

The Texas VINE/SAVNS County Service Agreement Renewal (FY2002) will also be up for discussion and possible approval. There will also be considerat­ion to award fuel bids.

County Commission­er for Pct. 2 Craig Bailey will lead discussion on an MOU

between City of Big Spring and Howard County for tower usage.

Road Engineer Brian Klinksiek will be requesting authorizat­ion to go out for bids on LRA, Base and Emulsion for FY 2022. There will also be discussion regarding the reallocati­on of funds to FY 2002 for pickup ordered in March 2021. A change ordered for additional base used on RFB2020012 GRH CR 19 will be discussed with possible approval. Before Klinksiek concludes he will provide a roadway maintenanc­e update to the Commission­ers.
