Chamber of Commerce happenings ...
Pictured above: The Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce, along with Chamber Ambassadors, celebrated the opening of Tea2go with a ribbon cutting. In addition to ribbon cuttings, the Ambassadors visit a different Chamber member business to show appreciation for their investment into the community each week. The investments made by local businesses contribute to the growth and success of the community. Tea2go is officially open for business and is located between Faye’s Flowers and Ward’s Western Wear on Gregg Street.
The Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce is heading into Fall with a line up of networking events, in an effort to provide local business owners with an opportunity to network and form new partnerships across Howard County.
The Thank You presentations continue to take place on a weekly basis. The presentations are aimed at showing the Chamber members how much their support to the Chamber and the community means. Through the support of local business, growth is taking place across Big Spring and Howard County.
In addition, more Ribbon Cuttings are starting to make their way to the event calendar. New buildings, new business, upgrades and renovations have been the featured presentations this year. More construction is taking place in our community which means growth is happening.
The Chamber of Commerce celebrated a Ribbon Cutting for Tea2go this past Friday and is looking forward to the September Alive After 5 event. This month's event - Let's Toast to Campaign 2022 - is hosted by the United Way of Big Spring and Howard County and will take place at 215 W. Third.
Alive After 5 will take place from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Local business owners, Chamber members and community members are encouraged to stop by and find out what the United Way is focusing on this year as they step into a new campaign. The goal this year is set at $200,000.
There will also be an opportunity to find out how to join the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce.
“Being part of the Chamber opens a door of connection to other local business owners, industry leaders, and community resources by providing an opportunity to further connect with the community,” Debbye Valverde, Executive Director at the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce, said.
Another annual venture offered by the Chamber - Leadership Big Spring - is gearing up for a new semester. Last year the Leadership Big Spring class was put on hold in order to help slow the curve of cases in Howard County. This year, the class is set to begin Oct. 14 and register is now open. Applications can be submitted by e-mail or more information can be obtained by calling the Chamber office at 432-263-7641. Class size is limited this year in order to allow for Covid precautions to be put in place. The class registration will close at 10 participants.
