Mary Socorro Salazar, affectiona­tely known by many as Quito, age 85 of Big Spring, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022 at her niece’s home in Midland, TX. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022 at Holy Trinity Parish. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

A Rosary will be held at 7:00p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2022 at Nalley-pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.

She was born Jan. 14, 1937 in Big Spring, Texas to parents Catarino Salazar and Isabel (Garcia) Salazar.

She was a lifelong Big Spring resident and member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. She spent her days caring for various family members and friends and keeping an immaculate­ly clean home. She and her sisters loved to seasonally decorate the home as it was the place that family and friends gathered for many holidays until 2020. In her remaining years, her greatest longing was to be reunited with her deceased family members.

Survivors include seven nieces and nephews, Debbye Valverde of Big Spring, Brenda Nack (Peter) of Baltimore, MD, Lisa Williams (Mark) of Midland, David Salazar (Sheila) of Big Spring, Tony Salazar (Michelle) of Big Spring, Denise Salazar (Marty) of Big Spring and John Salazar (Arlington). She is also survived by sister-in-law Cruz Salazar of Baltimore, MD and 10 great nieces and nephews, Laura and Jordan Williams, Elyse and Catherine Salazar, Michael, Beth and William Salazar, Sophie Deanda, Aaron Patterson and Alana Wegner.

She was preceded in death by her parents Catarino and Isabel, brothers Frank, Joe and Tim Salazar and sisters Inez and Flora Salazar; sisters-in-law Ruth Salazar and Gina Salazar and nephew-in-law Larry Valverde.

Pall Bearers will be Mark Williams, Jordan Williams, Tony Salazar, Michael Salazar, William Salazar, Marty Deanda and Aaron Patterson. Honorary Pall Bearers are David Salazar, John Salazar, Peter Nack, DJ Alviar, Arthur Olague, Michael Flores, Johnny Flores and Albert Deanda.

Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 24, 2022 at Nalley-pickle & Welch Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m.

The family would like to thank Home Hospice for previous care and Hospice of Midland who provided care in her final days. The Williams family is deeply appreciati­ve to Marisa Rayos of Home Instead, for providing companions­hip and personal care for Quito for the last 18 months so that they could continue working.
