Melvin “James" Fair III, 53, of Big Spring died unexpected­ly Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel.

He was born on Oct. 6, 1968 in Amarillo, TX to Melvin Fair Jr. and Melody Johnson.

He graduated from Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland, Texas in 1987.

He moved to Big Spring in 1991 before joining the Army and traveling as far as Saudi Arabia. He studied the Patriot Missile which taught him the skills he had to be the best IT guy in town.

James loved to cook for his family and friends, he loved the outdoors and loved riding his bike all over town. He enjoyed working on computers and took a lot of pride in his work.

James is survived by his 3 beautiful daughters: Jordan Fair of Big Spring, Gabrielle Fair of Midland & Sydney Beall (Stuart) of Midland; his parents: Melvin Fair Jr. of Mckinney & Melody of Dallas; 2 sisters Monica Flowers (Perry) of Dallas & Felicia Staudt of Hallettsvi­lle; his maternal grandmothe­r: Delores Jones of Amarillo; and ex-wife and longtime friend: Christian Fair.

James was preceded in death by his paternal grandparen­ts: Melvin Fair Sr. & Betty Laverne Fair; maternal grandfathe­r: Buddy Jones; and beloved uncle: Mike Jones.

The family would like to thank Opie Dehoyos and the staff at Canterbury for welcoming James and making him feel at home.
