The Big Spring Steers won their first game of the year Thursday evening when they took on the Stanton Buffaloes in Stanton. This was only the second game of the season for the Steers as they were coming off a loss to the Greenwood Rangers earlier in the week by a score of 5-1. This game only happened because of the icy conditions we all experienced on Thursday morning, as the Steers were set to take a trip to Pecos for a tournament. Because of the icy conditions, the trip to Pecos was replaced with a game against the Buffaloes in Stanton. The game turned out to be just what the Steers needed as they had an excellent performance in all aspects of the game. The Steers started the game off on a hot note as they batted around driving in three runs in the first inning. That was just the beginning of the run-scoring for the Steers as they had an even bigger fourth inning where they tacked on five more runs. The Steers held off the Staton Buffaloes for a 10-5 win with good pitching on the mound and some clutch hitting in between. The win was not only the first win of the season for the Steers; it was also Coach Harmons first Victory as the Steers head coach.
