Glasscock County wreck causes one fatality

A Midland man is dead, and a Luling man is hospitaliz­ed following a two-vehicle collision Monday in Glasscock County.

According to a press release issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety, at about 6:30 a.m. Monday, Jordi Rafael Cruz, 22, of Luling was traveling south on State Highway 137 about 12 miles west of Garden City in a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, while Aaron William-thomas Weber, 31, of Midland was driving north on the same highway in his 2016 Honda Accord. Cruz veered across the roadway into the east barrow ditch at the side of the highway. Attempting to correct, Cruz drove back onto the roadway, where he collided with Weber.

Weber was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Glasscock County Justice of the Peace Brandy Farris.

Cruz was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital was in stable condition.

According to the TXDPS report, weather conditions at

the time of the accident were clear and the highway was dry. Both drivers were reportedly wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Hunter Graves of Midland investigat­ed

the wreck, assisted by Trooper Jake Thorn, also of Midland.
