Billie Miles, 93, of Big Spring, died Thursday, March 24, 2022. Visitation will be 9 AM until 9 PM Sunday with family receiving friends from 2 PM until 4 PM at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 2 PM Monday at Evergreen Chapel in Stanton, Texas.

Billie was born on May 30, 1928 in Stanton, Texas to Thelma Lee and Charles Sidney Anderson. She grew up in Stanton and was lifetime resident of Martin and Howard County. She was a member of the First Presbyteri­an Church in Big Spring and was active in music at First Presbyteri­an Church.

She graduated from Stanton High School and from Texas Tech. She was a teacher in Tahoka and Stanton. She worked with her husband, Jess Miles in his accounting and tax office in Stanton; he was also a teacher. She often introduced her self as one of the original Soreheads. Her life in addition to her work and family was music; she played the mandoline, fiddle, guitar, bass, and piano.

Billie is survived by 2 nephews: Sid Hatch (Susan) of Midland & Brent Hatch (Talori) of Big Spring; 4 nieces & nephews: Cynthia Hatch, Michael Sherrill, Jonathan Sherrill, & Alicia Sherrill.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 daughter: Jo Allison Miles; and 2 sisters: Mary Ellis & Charlene Hatch.
