Lady Buffs Bi-district Champions after New Deal win
… and the ball keeps going.
The Forsan Lady Buffs have claimed the Bi-district Championship winner circle. The Lady Buffs defeated New Deal with a 13-3 victory on Thursday evening.
The Lady Buffs have been blazing a victory trail this season and have no plan of losing steam now. As they stepped out on the field, the ladies brought the power in their swing and the determination echoed in the field. The first inning set the tone for the game as Lady Buff Reagan Phillips drove in two and K’leigh Wiliams also doubled.
The Lady Buffs knew they couldn’t let their guard down. In the fourth inning, New Deal saw a glimmer of hope as they put three runs on the board, with two RBIS in the frame. That moment of hope was taken away as the Lady Buffs answered back and continued to bring in the runs. The fourth inning ended with five runs from the Lady Buffs, led by
Lindsey Morin, Mercedes Rodriquez, Lybertee Rodriquez, and Emma Buske, who all drove in runs.
Phillips lasted four innings in the circle allowing two hits and three runs while striking out four.
During the District Championship game, the Lady Buffs had five home runs on the books and this game added to that total as Aubrie Smith claimed another in the third inning.
In the end, the Lady Buffs tallied up 15 hits for the Bi-district Win, with several of the ladies racking up multiple hits: Buske, Phillips, Smith, Williams and Rodriguez.
The victory came from a unified effort on the field, with each score making a difference. However, there was one Lady Buff that brought a little extra power to the field Thursday evening. Williams made every at bat - four to be exact - count. Before she left the field for the evening, she left a mark. In the first Williams scored a double, pulled a single in the third and in the fourth and one last double in the fifth.
