Howard County Commissioners to meet Monday
Howard County commissioners will meet at 3:30 p.m. Monday. The meeting will take place in the third floor courtroom of the Howard County Courthouse, 300 S. Main St.
Prior to the regular meeting, the commissioners will hold a workshop session at 2:30 p.m. in the courthouse's secondfloor conference room. Members of the public are welcome to attend both the workshop and the meeting.
At the start of the meeting, Judge Kathryn Wiseman will present several items.
She will introduce Big Spring Economic Development Corporation Director Mark Willis, who will discuss business prospects and tax abatement guidelines. She will also initiate a public hearing on a reinvestment zone, and present a
resolution on the proposed reinvestment zone for approval by the commissioners.
Wiseman will also present an proposed agreement between Howard County and the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service.
Commissioners may meet in executive session to discuss contract negotiations, after which Wiseman will present an item regarding the Howard County Appraisal District's taxing value.
Wiseman will also hear presentations and take the commissioners' votes on acceptance of county officials' monthly reports.
Next, County Treasurer Sharon Adams will present personnel considerations, her monthly payroll report and a proposal regarding TDRS Rates and
the county retirement assessment for 2023.
County Auditor Jackie Olson will present invoices, purchase requests and budget amendments.
Commissioner Eddilisa Ray (Precinct 1) will present a grant request letter, while Commissioner Jimmie Long (Precinct 3) will present bids for landscaping at the 118th District Court building and the Howard County Library building.
County Clerk Brent Zitterkopf will present his monthly report. County Road Engineer Brian Klinksiek will present a request for permission to purchase replacement pipes for an emergency repair of a collapsed culvert on 11th Place. Klinksiek will also present his regular Roadway Maintenance Report.
Commissioners will have the opportunity to suggest items for future agendas before the meeting is adjourned.
