Forsan Buffaloes Golf are statebound

The Forsan High School Golf Team has been bringing home the awards this year.

The team - composed of five members - will be heading out early Sunday morning to compete at the State Golf Tournament in Austin. On Friday morning, the student body recognized the achievements and held a short celebration for the team. According to Coach Dave Park, in his 20 years of coaching golf, this is his first time taking a Golf Team to state.

"People might have thought I was crazy when I told them, at the end of last year, that the Boy's team could make it to state," Park said.

The team won three championships this year, including District, and placed third at Regionals for a chance to go to State. Senior Rylee Yanez placed third at District and Junior Kade Nichols earned a silver medal at District. In addition to competing in golf tournaments, several of the boys juggled more than one sport.

"These guys have done an amazing job this year. We are super proud of them," Coach Jason Phillips said.
