Astrology guides singles to ‘Cosmic Love’ on Prime Video

-

Singles who have been unlucky in relationships turn to astrology to find “Cosmic Love” in a new unscripted series on Prime Video.

In what is being called “a one-of-akind social experiment,” four individuals land in an idyllic Southern California retreat to mingle with other singles and date, match and eliminate based on their astrological charts as well as their own instincts. Advising them every step of the way is the Astro Chamber, a mystical guide voiced by Cree Summer whose chart readings are actually the work of astrologers and bestselling authors Tali and Ophira Edut.

Sometimes the singles – who each represent an element: fire, water, earth and wind – take the Astro Chamber’s advice, sometimes not, but all are open to the experience of using the stars to guide their love lives.

The twist here is that the Eduts, otherwise known as “The Astrotwins,” didn’t meet these folks beforehand and knew nothing about them save for the date and time of their birth. From there, they made charts for each that told them how to proceed. But it also told them other things that got their attention.

“What was really exciting,” Tali Edut says, “was being able to tell the elements things that they didn’t know about themselves ... . Throughout the episodes, we reveal their moon sign and

their horizon sign and their Venus and Mars, which all govern the nuances of interaction. And you know, I think we freaked them out a little bit. They were like, ‘How the heck do you know that? Are you spying on me?’ ”

In the end, the Eduts understand that many viewers will have a healthy skepticism when it comes to astrology but they feel that it should be seen as a useful tool and nothing more.

“I would say that the biggest misconception about astrology is that it contradicts free will,” Tali Edut says, “We all make choices. Astrology kind of gives you a rough map and then you get to choose . ... Another misconception is that it’s a belief system. People say, ‘Do you believe in astrology?’ And I say it’s the same as asking, ‘Do you believe in a calculator?’ It’s a tool, not a rule.”
