Steers JV team falls to Snyder in tough defensive matchup 22-10

Above, action from the Steers JV game against the Snyder Tigers Thursday afternoon in Snyder. The Steers JV squad would fall to the Tigers with the final score being 22-10. The JV'S defense played a great game by not allowing the Tigers to score another touchdown after the first quarter. The Steers JV team will host the Seminole Indians Thursday Sept. 29th. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. By AMANDA DUFORAT to score another touchdown thanks to a successful­ly completed long pass play. However, the Steers would hit a roadblock on the next play as the Tigers intercepte­d the pass attempt with 3:17 left in the third quarter.

The Steers defense would respond back though, and in a big way. Soon after the Tigers took over, the Steers ended up getting safety making the score now 22-10 with three minutes left in the Third Quarter.

Headed into the fourth quarter Snyder still held the lead at 22-10 with Steers having possession of the ball.

Still in the lead with a little over four minutes left in the game, the Tigers began to run the clock down to secure the win. The Steers defense however continued to give their all, pushing back and holding the line.

With 2:42 left in the fourth quarter a time out was called. Following the timeout, both the teams took to the field again with Snyder still in possession. Big Spring's defense came up with a huge play regaining the ball off a fumble on the ensuing play.

The momentum was short lived as Snyders defense would answer back. The Tigers intercepte­d the ball off of a long Steer pass to regain possession. With 2:14 left in the game Snyder would run down the clock to secure the win with the final score being 22-10.

Despite the loss, the Steers JV team showed heart as they held strong and prevented the Tigers from scoring after the first quarter.

The Big Spring Steers JV team hit the road to battle against the Snyder Tigers Thursday afternoon in a non-district matchup.

The first two quarters belonged to Snyder as the Tigers found the end zone three times. In the final minutes of the first half the Steers pushed, trying to make their way through the Tiger defense, but found themselves unsuccessf­ul.

The West Texas heat continued to beam down as the Steers collected themselves and rediscover­ed their fight. At the start of the second half the Steers came out fired up.

The Steers made the necessary adjustment­s as they scored a touchdown and successful­ly converted the two extra point attempt to put 8 points on the board.

The JV Steers were starting to find their rhythm in the second half but the Snyder defense was relentless.

On the Steers next possession they found themselves knocking on the door
