JV Steers fall to Brownwood 42-12

The battle was on Thursday evening as the Steers JV team went head to head with Brownwood. The Steers kicked off to start the game and the ball was received on the 25 yard line by Brownwood.

Brownwood got on the board quick scoring within the first three minutes of the game. The Lions set the tone early as they went for the two extra points and were successful.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Steers received the ball on the 30 yard line to start their first offensive possession of the game. The Steers moved the ball well on their first set of downs. However, Brownwood's defense would end the Steers momentum as they were pushed back and failed to keep the drive going.

The 1st quarter ended with Brownwood on top 16-0. The 2nd quarter started with Brownwood in control of the ball, but within a few seconds into the second quarter the Lions fumbled the ball with the Steers regaining control.

After the fumble recovery, the Steers got on the board thanks to JV Steer receiver A. Lozano. Lozano caught the pass at the 30 yard line with a free and clear run to the end zone for the Steer's first score of the night. The extra point attempt was no good, leaving the score 6-16 with 7:43 remaining in the 2nd quarter.

The Steers offense came alive after their first score as they went on to score again with just a little over 7 minutes left in the first half. The extra point attempt was no good making the score now 16-12.

Brownwood was looking to answer back after the Steers scoring drives.

The Lions found its momentum again thanks to a huge play from No. 8 as he made his way all the way down to the goal line before stepping out of bounds.

On the very next play, Brownwood completed the drive pushing into the end zone for another 6 points and tacking on the extra 2 points to make the score 24-12.

With 30 seconds remaining in the first half, Brownwood were looking to score again to give them a bigger lead heading into halftime. The Steers got a break as the Lions lost the ball with the

Steers recovering. Big Spring would try to capitalize but ran out of time as Brownwood headed into half time with the lead.

The Steers would receive the ball on the kickoff to start the second half and would start on their 20 yard line. The third quarter saw both the Steers and Lions defenses battle it out as both teams went scoreless in the third quarter.

Heading into the last quarter, Brownwood's offense finally got things going again. With four seconds into the fourth quarter the Lions scored again. The extra point attempt was no good leaving the score at 30-12 for Brownwood.

The Steers offense could not muster any offensive momentum in the fourth quarter as they went scoreless for the rest of the game. Brownwood would add another touchdown to help expand their lead. The extra two point attempt from Brownwood was no good leaving he score 36-12 with a little over seven minutes left in the game.

The Lions would go on to score one more time with a little over 4 minutes left in the game making the score 42-12. The Steers offense could not find its momentum as Brownwood came away with the win 42-12.
