“Up” (Freeform, Sunday, Feb. 19): One of the most enduring and affecting of the Disney-pixar collaborations, this animated 2009 fantasy casts Edward Asner as the voice of a widower who uses many of the balloons he self to lift his house and embark on a much-desired journey. He initially doesn’t realize he’s carrying a young passenger (Jordan Nagai), and the two of them ultimately have big impacts on each other.

“PT 109” (Turner Classic Movies, Monday, Feb. 20): As part of a President’s Day night lineup smartly marked by films about past U.S. chief executives, Cliff Robertson does a fine job as John F. Kennedy in this 1963 drama about the latter’s service aboard a military boat whose crew – commanded by Kennedy – ends up struggling for survival after a literal run-in with a Japanese vessel.

“Magnum, P.I.” (gettv, Tuesday, Feb. 21): Now in a new television home (as is its reboot, which has moved to NBC), the original Tom Selleck version of the detective series is running every night. The two-hour episode “Memories Are Forever” is a good example of the underrated complexity that the stories often encompassed, with military veteran Magnum believing the woman he married while serving in Vietnam – and long thought to have been killed – actually may be alive.

“Robocop” (MGM+ Hits, Wednesday, Feb. 22; MGM+, Saturday, Feb. 25): As much as it’s known for its over-the-top violence, director Paul Verhoeven’s original 1987 version of this action-fantasy also has lots of wit, thanks to the social satire built into its mock newscasts and sharp dialogue. Peter Weller plays a Detroit policeman wounded severely by a vicious criminal gang ... setting him up to receive an extensive transplant of robotics turning him into the crime-fighter of the future. Nancy Allen, Miguel Ferrer and Ronny Cox are among co-stars.
