The Big Spring Symphony kicks off it's new season with annual gala
The Big Spring Symphony 42nd Kick-off Gala was successful despite a few setbacks this past year, according to Natalie Permenter, Public Relations Officer. “We thank everyone who attended and helped make this event so special,” said Permenter and continued. “We were treated to an incredible meal from Iva Jo Hanslick and fabulous entertainment by The ASU String Quartet led by our own Concertmaster, Dr. Fagner Rocha.”
During the meeting BSSA Board President, Mark Watt gave a report on the upcoming season. Guest Conducor Robert Meinecke was in attendance and provided a preview of what to expect aat the Season Opener Saturday.
“We even had a special appearance by Jody Nix to discuss his concert in February,” said Perperformance menter. Nix's is slated to take place in the recently renovated Municiple Auditorium Feb. 17.
The night also had a pleasant suprise with the Big Spring Symphony Guild presenting the Symphony with a $15,000 donation check. As the old saying goes 'it takes a village.' Permenter expressed gratitude to all who helped make the night possible. “We first want to shout out to our media partners: KBYG News, Newswest 9 and Big Spring Herald were able to be in attendance,” said Permenter, “... and Kbest Media helped us with a huge last minute event boost. We just thank all local media for
doing their best to support our events. We know that Thursday is a busy night in Big Spring this time of the year.”

The Season Opener-”if it ain't Baroque” is Saturday at the Big Spring High School auditorium. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30. Tickets are available at the door or at eventbrite.com
