BIG SPRING HERALD ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK
Here we are in the third week of the Big Spring Herald's Athletes of the Week voted by you the fans! Again there were many top performers in week four from our Crossroads teams and once again the fans have spoken!
This week's Male and Female Athletes of the Week, voted by you the fans, are Kavien Ford from Big Spring and Jovi Ward from Forsan.
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
KAVIEN FORD – BIG SPRING STEERS FOOTBALL
Big Spring suffered another tough loss last Friday as the Sweetwater Mustangs spoiled the Steers homecoming with a 56-30 upset. Despite the loss, senior running back, Kavien Ford had a breakout game. Ford finished the game with a season best of 116 yards of rushing on 23 carries. Ford also played an intricate role in the Steers second half effort on offense providing the Steers with scoring oppportunities by keeping Sweetwater's defense off-balance with his running performance. “Kavien Ford is a great kid and leads our
time on and off the field. He has been a part of our varsity football team for four years and has helped change the culture of our program.” FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
JOVI WARD – FORSAN LADY BUFFALOES VOLLEYBALL
Last Saturday, the Forsan Lady Buffaloes pickedup a non-district win over Water Valley. Forsan swept the lady Wildcats in three winning 25-21, 25-18, and 25-17. Sophomore Jovi Ward had an impressive performance finishing the match with 9 kills, 3 blocks, 4 aces, and 10 digs. Ward also aided in the the Lady Buffs win over Loop this past Tuesday in non-district action. Ward finished that game with 4 kills, 2 aces, 5 digs, and an assist.
