This week's Male and Female Athletes of the Week, voted by you the fans, are Ines “CJ” Gonzales and Brooklyn Hyatt both from Big Spring. MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

INES “CJ”GONZALES – BIG SPRING STEERS CROSS COUNTRY Ines”cj”gonzales has had quite a week. The eighth grader first made history last Saturday by setting a new course and school record at the Big Spring Invitational. Gonzales ran a blazing 10:55.54 to win the JH boys two-mile race. Gonzales followed that up with another impressive performance this past Tuesday as he claimed the indivdual district title at the District 5-4A junior high cross country meet.gonzales' time was just five seconds slower than his record setting performance last Saturday. The most impressive thing about Gonzales record setting time is that it will eventually place him in the top five across the entire State of Texas for junior high boys!

“Gonzales works hard, never complains, never questions and is an overall wonderful young man. I look forward to unlocking his potential and seeing

Big Spring Herald's Female Athlete of the Week – Brooklyn Hyatt Big Spring Lady Steers Volleyball what he becomes.” Steers head cross country coach Brandon Clemmons said. FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

BROOKLYN HYATT – BIG SPRING LADY STEERS VOLLEYBALL

The Lady Steers volleyball team is still proving to be the team to beat in District 5-4A. While the Lady Steers suffered their first loss this past Tuesday to Levelland they still sit at the top of the district standings sporting a 3-1 record. Senior Brooklyn Hyatt has been of many key pieces to the Lady Steers success during district play. Hyatt had a killer game last Saturday as her contributions aided in the Lady Steers win over Sweetwater. Hyatt's numbers in that game were staggering against the Lady Mustangs. Hyatt recorded 9 aces, a whopping 43 kills, 5 blocks, 20 assists, and 24 digs. Her impressive game against Sweetwater has now earned the Big Spring Herald Female Athlete of the Week.

Congratulations to both Brooklyn Hyatt and Ines “CJ” Gonzales on being named this week's Big Spring Heralds Athletes of the Week.
