Grand opening - Chick -
The day has finally arrived … to eat more chicken!
Chick-fil-a has officially opened its doors to the Big Spring community. In preparation for opening day, a special ribbon cutting was held - by invitation only - with the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce.
“New business is always a great thing for our community. We are excited to welcome Chick-fil-a to Big Spring and are looking forward to their investment into the community,” Debbye Valverde, Executive Director of the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce, said.
The Big Spring Chick-fil-a is under the direction of Owner-operator Katie Moyle. The new location is providing 110 jobs to the community, with all employees coming from surrounding areas such as Big Spring, Garden City, and Coahoma.
“My husband and I used to go on dates at Chickfil-a because he was working nights and it was a great place to go. We felt safe in the building,” Moyle said. “It has been a lifelong dream to be able to give back to the community as much as the community has given us over the years.”
Moyle added, “We have always been community servants with him being a police officer and me being a teacher, so, for us this is giving a little bit more. We are able to influence a community, just give a lot of jobs to people, coach them and give them careers. We are excited to be a part of this.”
The Big Spring residents visiting Chick-fil-a are not the only ones who will be fed from the opening of this location. The West Texas Food Bank was the recipient of a $25,000 donation fromchick-fila, Inc's donation to Feeding America. According to Moyle, every time a new Chick-fil-a location is opened a donation for Feeding America is able to be made.
In addition, Chick-fil-a is recognizing 100 local heroes. These local heroes are classified as those who are making an impact in the Big Spring area. According to Moyle, the recipients are going to be teachers; the honorees will be announced Dec. 5. The honorees will receive free meals for a year.
Chick-fil-a is located at 502 E. FM 700 and is open for dine-in and carry-out from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. with the drive-thru open from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. According to a press release, orders can be placed in store, online or through the Chick-fil-a app.
