Vincent Ortiz

- Paid Obituary

It is with deep sadness we announce that on Dec 7th, 2023, Vincent “Vince” “Tu-tata” Gutierrez Garcia Jr., 67, of Whitney, TX. passed on to be with his Creator. He was born in Big Spring, TX. to Vicente Yanez Garcia and Barbarita Martinez Gutierrez Garcia. He grew up with two brothers Venancio and Vivian Garcia. He is a proud graduate of Coahoma High School, Class of 1974, in Coahoma, TX. In the Spring of 1988, he attended Odessa College as a part time student and received Summa Cum Laude Recognition along with an Achievement in Diesel Technology.

In his younger years, his priority was to be a father figure to his two younger brothers. This experience instilled in him a hustling work ethic. He started working at age 13 and even held his first full time job at the age of 15. While raising his brothers, he attended school and became an exceptional athlete. He especially loved baseball, which he continued to participate in well after his high school career. This birthed in Vince a strong passion for sports. He always believed that the skills learned through sports were important life lessons. He passed on his love for sports to all those he cared for. As a self-professed “Jack of All Trades” he dabbled in anything with an engine to hunting, gardening, and especially fishing. He loved fishing so much, that he chose to spend the golden years of his life lake side in Whitney, Texas. You could always count on Vince to serve his fellow man with gusto and make it exciting for others to help him in doing so. He was loved and adored by many.

He was blessed to be loved by Leonor Vasquez who gave him five beautiful children: Deborah Sandiford of Seaford, VA., Rosy Garcia of Myrtle Beach, SC., Dolores Goodblanket of Lubbock, TX., Vincent Garcia III of Midland, TX., Mario Garcia of Ropesville TX., Ruby Jernigan of Graham, TX. and Donnie Garcia of Sand Spring, TX.

He was blessed to be loved by Marsha Hallmark who brought into his life five wonderful stepchildren: Tyson Hallmark of Whitney, TX., Tiffany Hallmark of Whitney, TX., Sarah Cave of Granbury, TX., Brandon Hallmark of Tacoma, WA., and Casey Hallmark of Tulsa, OK.

The blessings continued as he grew to have seventeen grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren and one great-grand daughter.

He was preceded in his passing by his Parents, Vicente Garcia and Barbarita Garcia, his younger brother Venancio Garcia, his infant son Ruben Samuel Garcia.

We will have a family visitation at Ryan Hall & St. Thomas Square located at 605 N Main St Big Spring Tx 79720 on Monday, December 18th from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
