Juan L. Guevara

Juan L. Guevara, 89, of Big Spring passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 23, 2024 surrounded by his family. Visitation will be 9 AM until 9 PM Sunday with a vigil service at 7 PM at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10 AM Monday at Holy Trintiy Catholic Church with burial at Mount Olive Cemetery.

Juan was born on July 21, 1934 in Pearsall, TX to Paula Lopez Guevara & Rutilio Guevara. He married Elisa Sanchez on January 5, 1955 in Big Spring. They recently celebrated 69 years of marriage. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Juan was employed by B.S.I.S.D for 27 years, he retired in 2000. After retiring he devoted time to their rental properties. In his free time, he loved going to antiques shops, buying, selling, & collecting them. He also, enjoyed gardening and raising livestock. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He will be missed dearly, but leaves many special memories. The family finds comfort in his devotion as a husband, father, & grandfather.

Juan is survived by his wife: Elisa Guevara of Big Spring; 3 children: Gloria Echevarria (Marshall) of Canyon, Juan Guevara, Jr. (Lisa) Bloomington, IL, & Mary Ann Guevara (Lupe Rodriguez) of Big Spring; 3 sisters: Antonia Arista of Ft. Worth, Malle Cuellar of Hermiston, OR, & Olga Trevino of Big Spring; 8 grandchildren: Larissa Vasquez, Juan Anthony Guevara, Nathan Guevara, Melissa Guevara, Andrea Guevara, Jason Guevara, Brittany Cruz, & Marisela Rodriguez; 7 great grandchildren: Jaxson Vasquez, Marlee Vasquez, Havannah Echevarria, Ryder Echevarria, Phoenix Guevara, Estrella Cruz, & Ethan Cruz.

In addition to his parents, Juan was preceded in death by 1 son: Ricardo Guevara; 1 daughter: Sylvia Guevara; 1 grandson: Marshall Lee Echevarria; 7 siblings: Santos Guevara, Rutilio Guevara, Paula Trevino, Julia Ovalle, Victoria Duran, Cuca Ramirez, & Elena Hernandez.
