Forsan National Honor Society induction ceremony
The Forsan Chapter of the National Honor Society held an induction ceremony on Jan. 18 where 15 students became members.
“This was a special induction to include early graduates and juniors who qualified for induction, at the end of last year,” Jamie Richardson, Forsan National Honor Society co-sponsor, said.
The National Honor Society officers conducted the ceremony. Officers for the 2023-24 school year are: President Caylee Myers, Vice President Morgan Miller, Secretary Emma Peffer, and Treasurer Lilly Hoff. Sponsors for the Forsan Chapter of the National Honor Society include Richardson and
Chelsea Wells.
The ceremony included a review of the national NHS standards as well as the National Honor Society pledge. In addition to the officers, National Honor Society Members Hilary Thompson and Logan Henry also helped perform the ceremony. Journalism Student Jimma Richardson took photos for the event.
“The students cumulative average in the core classes are checked at the end of the sophomore year; if the student has a 90 or above, a teacher evaluation form is filled out by all teachers including those who teach elective courses,” Richardson said.
The criteria states that any student who receives a score of 80 or below from four or more teachers is removed from the consideration process, but can be reevaluated at the next cycle. The same concept pertains to grades.
Inductees included: Ethan Buske, Emma Fernandez, Mary Gabehart, Toryn Kendrick, Loyd Kraus, Chance Leonardi, Jacauri Lofton, Aracellie Melendez, Tatum Neel, Abigail Olson, Kaylie Rosenbaum, Marc Trinidad, Kaleb Walker, Kenzi Wooldridge, and Patricia Yabes.
After the ceremony, a small reception was held in the high school library for family and friends.
Qualifying students will be inducted at the end of the sophomore year. This induction process will allow for the students to be a member of the National Honor Society for two years.
