The Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce recognized the United Way of Big Spring and Howard County last week, during the United Way's annual banquet, with a Thank You for Your Investment presentation.
The United Way is a non-profit organization that supports 15 agencies in the Howard County community. The 2024 fundraising campaign, with a goal of $250,000, recently wrapped up with a total of $266,000, with the money raised being distributed to their supported agencies.
Community support is the driving force behind the success of the United Way fundraising efforts. Volunteers are important and are appreciated, according to Executive Director of the United Way of Big Spring and Howard County Christian Fair. Volunteers can reach out to Fair or any of the board members. Businesses who would like to join in fundraising efforts can also do so by holding workplace campaigns, provide sponsorships to upcoming events, attend events throughout the year, or provide monetary contributions.
The next fundraising campaign will kick off in August with the Rock-nroll Golf Tournament and Concert.
In addition to the Thank You presentation, the Chamber hosted a Ribbon Cutting for Atkins Realty.
Atkins Realty has been serving Big Spring and Howard County since January 2023, but recently relocated to a new location at 104 W. 3rd. A special ceremony was held as part of the ribbon cutting. Chamber Ambassadors and community members that attended were privileged to tour the new office.
