Sunny Randall's newest client, Blake, seems to have it all in Bad Influence-sunny Randall #11 (AUCD F PAR R) by Rober Parker. He is an Instagram

influencer, with all the perks the lifestyle entails a beautiful girlfriend, wealth, and adoring fans. But one of those fans has turned ugly, and Sunny is brought on board by Blake's manager, Bethany, to protect him and to uncover who is out to kill him. In doing so, she investigates a glamorous world rife with lies and scheme and ties to a dangerous criminal scene. When Bethany goes missing and the threats against Blake escalate, Sunny realizes that to solve this case, she must find out exactly who Blake and Bethany are, behind the Instagram filters. While digging into their pasts, she is also forced to confront her own, as old friends and ex-husbands reappear. With a combination of old-school crime-solving skills and modern internet savvy, Sunny will stop at nothing to catch a killer.

Tough-as-nails criminal defense attorney Jane Smith is hip-deep in the murder trial of the century in 12 Months to Live (AUCD F PAT J) by James Patterson and Mike Lupica. Her charmless client might've committed several murders. She's also fallen in love with a wonderful guy. And an equally wonderful dog, a mutt. But Jane doesn't have much time. She's just received a terminal diagnosis giving her twelve months. Unless she's murdered before her expiration date.

In 2008, nine mountaineers failed to return from a winter backpacking trip in the New Mexico mountains in Dead Mountain-nora Kelly #4 (AUCD F PRE D) by Preston & Child. At their last campsite, searchers found a bizarre scene: something had appeared at the door of their tent so terrifying that it impelled them to slash their way out and flee barefoot to certain death in a blizzard. Despite a diligent search, only six bodies were found, two violently crushed and inexplicably missing body parts. The case, given the code name “Dead Mountain” by the FBI, was never solved. Now, two more bodies from the lost expedition are unexpectedly discovered in a cave, one a grisly suicide. Young FBI Agent Corrie Swanson teams up with archaeologist Nora Kelly to investigate what really happened on that fateful trip fifteen years ago and to find the ninth victim. But their search awakens a long-slumbering evil, which pursues Corrie and Nora with a vengeance, determined to prevent the final missing corpse from ever coming to light.

When a retired police officer is found shot dead in his home, Eve and the team are called to the scene to investigate in Payback in Death-in death #57 (AUCD F ROB J) by J.D. Robb. The victim is Martin Greenleaf, former Captain of Internal Affairs. At first glance it looks like suicide, but Eve thinks there could be more to this carefully laid scene than meets the eye. Captain Greenleaf put a lot of cops away during his forty-seven years in Internal Affairs. Did the weight of the job finally prove too much for him? Or could this be a case of payback in death.
