Jack Edward Lee

- Paid Obituary

Jack Edward Lee, 91 of Fredericksburg, Texas, formerly of Big Spring, TX, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024. An open visitation will begin at 1:00pm on Monday, April 15, 2024, ending at 9:00 pm at Nalley-pickle & Welch Funeral Home of Big Spring. Services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel.

Jack was born at home on May 13, 1932 in Big Spring to Benjamin Roy Lee and Nettie Mae Simon Lee. The youngest of 2 children, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda E Lee Hunt. He attended Westward Elementary School, then Big Spring High where he was involved in baseball & basketball. He decided to pursue accounting & attended both Texas Tech & Howard Payne University. While completing his degree at Howard, Payne, he married his sweet wife, Frances Louise King, on May 28, 1954, who loved & supported him for 63 years. She preceded him in death on October 17, 2007. Within the first year of their marriage, Jack was drafted into the U.S. Army & stationed at Fort Ord in Monterey, California as a sergeant. He was shortly reassigned to Army Security Service in Tokyo, Japan, returning to Big Spring a year later to resume his life & work. A career CPA, he was partner/owner of Lee, Reynolds, Welch, serving the families, ranchers, farmers and business owners of Howard County. The Lees welcomed their only child, Lorinda Gayle Lee on April 8, 1961.

Jack was a faithful member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church, attending weekly services in person, then televised services during & after COVID.

He was an avid baseball player & watcher, loving the sport from April spring games through the World Series. One had to understand that visiting him during these months meant actively watching the games & discussing play strategies. Texas Rangers could do no wrong! He also enjoyed playing golf as often as possible. And, he enjoyed his fire engine red 2015 Mustang, which many Fredericksburg and Heritage Place residents knew by site.

Jack Lee was the most gentle, fair-minded, generous man that many friends, acquaintances and family have ever known. He truly exampled the verse in 2 Corinthians 9:11 - 'he was enriched in every way so that he could be generous on EVERY occasion, which resulted in thanksgiving to God.'

Jack is survived by daughter Lorinda Gayle Lee and her partner of 27 years, D'ann Ross.

The family would like to express their gratitude towards director Connie Eckhardt and dedicated staff at Heritage Place retirement community where he resided these last few years. Thanks go out to the caring, thoughtful presence of the ER staff at Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville, TX, as well as all of Jack's remaining friends and family who regularly called and visited. The Ladies of First Baptist were so faithful to visit and bring cards, goodies and caring hearts for so many occasions.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good Samaritan Center in Fredericksburg.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
