Cowboys and cowgirls will be kicking up dirt competing in the 86th Cowboy Reunion and Rodeo on June 20, 21 and 22, followed by Wade Bowen as the headliner Saturday night.

“I love the area and I am excited to be there,” Wade Bowen said, on a phone interview.

According to Bowen, those attending can expect about a 90-minute show full of fun.

“Those attending can expect a whole lot of country, rock and lots of fun,” Bowen said.

Soon after his performance at the Big Spring Rodeo, Bowen will be heading out for his tour through a few Texas cities, then on to the West Coast and on to Europe in July. He is also still celebrating his most recent release – on vinyl – Solid Ground.

“I’ve been doing this for 21 years fulltime. It’s exciting and fun, and it never gets old,” Bowen said.

Noel Olivas and the Benders will be opening up the night for Wade Bowen. Tickets are available for $20 and the show will begin after the rodeo wraps up.

Friday night will be Jason Boland and the Stragglers, with opening act The Band Big Spring.

“We’ve always just wanted to entertain ourselves and put out music that would be a part of people’s lives, not just something passing to them,” Jason Boland said in a press release. “We want to be something more monolithic.”

Jason Boland and the Stragglers include: Grant Tracy on bass; drummer and background vocalist Brad Rice; Nick Worly on fiddle, mandolin, and harmonies; and Cody Angel on guitar and pedal steel.

Tickets for the dance on Friday night are $10, with the show starting directly after the rodeo.
