Dur­ing the pub­lic hear­ing, those wish­ing to speak re­gard­ing the pro­posed bud­get or tax rate can do so be­fore the meet­ing ad­journs.

The sec­ond spe­cial meet­ing will take place at 5:45 p.m. also in the high school board room. The Board of Trustees will open the meet­ing with pub­lic com­ments be­fore mov­ing onto the con­sent agenda.

The Board will look to ap­prove min­utes from the Aug. 13, 2020 reg­u­lar board meet­ing

be­fore head­ing into the ac­tion items on the agenda.

Top­ping the ac­tion items is the ap­proval of the up­dated 2020-2021 school calendar. Stu­dents re­turned to the class­room on Aug. 19 and are tak­ing part in classes in per­son or on­line, de­pend­ing on the sit­u­a­tion that works best for the fam­i­lies.

Board of Trustees will also look at ap­prov­ing in­no­va­tive course of ki­ne­si­ol­ogy, be­fore head­ing into the dis­cus­sion on bud­get and tax rates for the up­com­ing fis­cal year.

The Board of Trustees will be look­ing to ap­prove the fi­nal amended bud­get for 20192020

and then look at ap­prov­ing the pro­posed bud­get for 2020-21 Fis­cal Year. After the pro­posed bud­get is dis­cussed and pos­si­ble ac­tion is taken, the trustees will be look­ing to ap­prove the tax rate res­o­lu­tion for Tax Year 2020.

The pub­lic is in­vited to at­tend any or all of the pub­lic hear­ings and spe­cial meet­ings that have been called by Howard Col­lege and Big Spring ISD.
