The United Way of Big Spring and Howard County is using virtual meetings to highlight the 14 supported agencies for the 2021 Campaign. As Howard County continues to do its part to slow the spread of the coronavirus, the United Way has opted to take much of their campaign launch to the virtual world. Over the next several weeks, those wanting to find out more about local nonprofit agencies supported by the local United Way can join in Virtual Lunch-n-Learns every Tuesday and Thursday at Noon.

“We want to make sure our agencies aren't forgotten, especially at this time, when so many are in need of their services,” local United Way Executive Director

Christian Fair, said. “Our agencies are constantly pouring back into our community and that is only possible because of the support that is provided from the community. These lunch-n-learns are an opportunity to highlight these agencies for what they do, but also to educate our community in case they need their services or they know someone who might.”

Each Tuesday and Thursday at Noon, for about 20 to 45 minutes, agency representatives will be able to educate the community on their history in Big Spring and what type of services are offered. A tour of the facilities is also being provided, along with any upcoming opportunities to support the agency, along with how to apply for services. The first two lunch-n-learns featured the Big Spring YMCA and was presented by Dathan Jones, CEO of the YMCA, and the Howard County Community Resource Center.

The YMCA was the first in a series of virtual lunch-n-learns hosted by United Way of Big Spring and Howard County in an effort to highlight supported agencies.
