The annual Forget Me Not Fundraiser, which serves as the local D.A.V.’s biggest fundraiser of the year, had to be cancelled due to current pandemic guidelines and crowd restrictions. However, the support needed by local veterans hasn’t subsided.
In an effort to bring in some funds to be able to offer needed support in the community, one local resident and veteran has put his creative side to the benefit of the organization.
Metalwork creator Gerald King, of King Fabrication & Custom Metal, recently designed a one-of-a-kind firepit which he donated to the D.A.V.Chapter 47 for a fundraiser. The past couple of
weekends, members of the D.A.V. have been in the community with the firepit. This coming weekend the group, along with the firepit will be set up at Higginbotham’s .
Those wanting to find out how to support the local efforts of the D.A.V. are encouraged to stop by Saturday morning and visit with members and take a look at the unique design.
