Forsan preparing for Battle of the Buffaloes, will host Stanton on Friday

- By SHAWN MORAN Herald Sports Writer

Forsan had trouble last Friday night against the top-ranked 2A team in the state. The Post Antelopes came into Forsan and defeated the Buffaloes by a score of 39-7 in dominating fashion.

It was not all bad for Forsan, however, as the defense was able to come up with a few big stops and were mostly consistent with their strong play near the line of scrimmage. A few big plays broke the game wide open for Post and allowed them to run away with the game in the second half.

Forsan’s Head Coach Jason Phillips enjoys these games against top-notch talent in the state and feels that games, like the one against Post, help a team improve across the board.

“We’re executing well, but not well 310 N. St. Peter • Stanton • 432-607-2516 enough,” Phillips said following the game last Friday. “There’s nothing that I’m seeing that is a major weakness for us. There’s just some little things that we have to fix and shore up. These guys are going to get back to work and they’re going to take care of business. I expect my guys to respond and come out better next week.”

This week, the Forsan Buffaloes will be entrenched in the “Battle of the Buffaloes” against Stanton. Forsan won a close game over Stanton 22-19 last year in the third game of the year for their first win and will be looking to grab their first win of the new season against Stanton once again.

The win over Stanton sparked a winning streak for the Buffs last year and Phillips will be hoping for a similar result this year.
