Special meeting of City Council called Saturday to discuss City Manager position, appoint interim

A special meeting of the Big Spring City Council has been called for Saturday, Sept. 12 at Noon at the City Council Chambers. Council Chambers are located at 307 E. 4th Street. Those wanting to attend the meeting can do so in person or by watching on Channel 17 through Suddenlink or by live streaming at http://mybigspring.com/224/ Channel-17-Live.

The meeting will open with a call to order followed by public comment. Public comment can be made in person or by phone at 432-264-2411. Those speaking are able to comment on any action item before or during its consideration. Speakers are asked to not exceed five minutes.

The Council will hear from the PACE Group on Executive search services for a City Manager. After hearing the presentation, the council will retire into Executive Session – in accordance with Texas Government Code Section 551.074 “Personnel Matters; Closed Meeting” - to discuss and deliberate the appointment, employment and duties of interim City Manager.

After discussion has concluded, the

Council will reconvene in Open Session and take possible action regarding appointment, employment and duties of an interim City Manager.

There will also be consideration and possible action taken to authorize the interim City Manager or another person to be specified, to seek proposals or bids for Executive search services for a City Manager, and or to post notices of the employment vacancy for City Manager.
