Something to think about…

-

he Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” Those words begin one of the most beloved songs ever written. I think we resonate with David’s song because we recognize that life is a journey. In our busy days, we need someone to “make us lie down in green pastures, lead us beside still waters and restore our souls.” In the confusion, we long for someone to guide us along the right paths. One who will lovingly lead us through the unfamiliar and dangerous territory we inevitably encounter. Having a protective Shepherd provides comfort and peace through the ups and downs of life. If we follow the Good Shepherd, He will guide us all the way home.

I heard about a Sunday School teacher who was having her class memorize different passages. She gave little Ricky Psalm 23. He had a month to memorize the Psalm and then they were going to recite their verses in front of everyone on a Sunday morning. Ricky was excited, but he just couldn’t remember the whole verse. He practiced and practiced, but he just wasn’t getting it. Ricky had a bit of a teflon mind because nothing would stick to it. On the day they were supposed to get up and recite their verse in front of the whole congregation, Ricky got really nervous. When it was his turn, he stepped up to the mic and said loudly, “The Lord is my Shepherd, and that’s all I need to know.”

Do you know that the Lord is your Shepherd? In John 10:27, Jesus said: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” There are many voices we can listen to through life. The one we follow will determine our direction and our ultimate destination. What voices are influencing you today? Who is guiding your life? Following the Good Shepherd comes with an amazing promise, “Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the

Lord forever!” May His Word guide us on the journey this week.

This Sunday

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” ~ Romans 10:13-15 NIV

We are on a mission right here in our community. We are sent to share God’s love and His Word with all that we encounter. This week we will engage all kinds of people – at home, at work, at the store, on the road, at the park – they may be family, friends, neighbors, or even strangers – as we are led by the Spirit we look for every opportunity to boldly share our faith in Christ through our words and our life.

Join us this Sunday as we learn to live with Beautiful Feet & Bold Faith.
