560 gallons of milk handed out Wednesday
Howard County residents have milk.
During the milk distribution at Memorial Stadium, on Wednesday afternoon, the United Way of Big Spring and Howard County handed out 560 gallons of milk. In addition to board members and volunteers of the United Way, NuStar workers and Sarah Farms staff were on hand to load the milk into cars as they pulled up into the parking lot.
“It was a great turn out especially considering the weather,” Christian Fair, United Way of Big Spring and Howard County Executive Director, said.
Volunteers were set up from 11:30 a.m. until around 1:30 p.m. Milk was distributed to residents, daycares, after school programs and all those who drove through. The milk distribution was made possible through a recently received grant awarded to Sarah Farms.
“United Way is all about people and community. Sometimes I think we get so bogged down in the fundraising for our partner agencies that people forget that our mission is to take care of people,” Fair said. “Something as simple as passing out a couple gallons of milk is just a reminder to our community that the United Way is here to help.”
Another milk distribution could be taking place in the coming weeks. More information will be released as soon as details become available.
