Lady Steers move to 2-0 in district play with win over Lake View on Saturday
The Big Spring Lady Steers are now 2-0 in district play following their 3-1 home victory over Lake View on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Steers are currently looking like the best team in the district and seem to improve as a unit every time they take the court.
“I’m thrilled with the improvements they’ve shown this season,” Head Coach Kaitlyn Braswell said. “These girls come ready to practice and ready to play every day and I couldn’t be happier with the way they’re playing right now.”
Big Spring will face two more district opponents this week. They will host the Snyder Lady Tigers in a match set for Tuesday evening and will travel to Levelland to take on the Lady Lobos next Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Steers have already more than doubled their win total from 2019. The roster that is led by Jocelyn Gonzales, Ryen Terrazas and Kalyn Whitehead seems to mesh well and one of the team’s stars always seems to pick up the slack during some scoreless stretches.
“Our more experienced players are our go-to players in close-game situations and those girls have really seemed to embrace that role as the season has gone along,” Braswell said.
The Lady Steers will not be taking either of their district rivals lightly this week and have a chance to really put themselves ahead of the pack with another 2-0 week.
Seeing how much this team has improved over the past year is impressive and the Lady Steers from Big Spring are looking to take home the district title this year. That will not stop them from taking the season one game at a time and putting everything into the upcoming matchup against Snyder.
